On Thursday, Feb. 12th I gave the students a puzzle. They each were given a 4 inch circle and a 4 inch square. I asked them to cut them out and try to put them together in such a way to make a heart. Then I told them they should make one cut to help but they still needed to use all of the circle and square. Some got it but most got frustrated. It was a good challenge. After we looked at the answer on paper, we made one with cake!
Here's the puzzle:
Then we put in together with an 8 inch square cake and an 8 inch circle cake.
It was a delicious puzzle.
